Bienyl Huelgas (b. 1998) is an emerging photographic artist based in Cavite, Philippines, whose work uses the lens as a site of interiority, a space for self-reflection and the slow processing of her transgender identity and queer experience. Her practice turns inward, using photography as a way to sit with, examine, and make meaning of what it means to move through the world as a trans woman. Through this act of looking, her images assert the visibility of transness, chronicling not just queer existence, but the emotional and psychological textures beneath it.
She is a proud alumna of the 2026 Angkor Photo Workshops and her work has been exhibited both locally and internationally and featured in prominent publications, including Tiga Mata, F-Stop Magazine, Lenscratch, and The Photo Review. She has received recognition from the International Photography Awards, and the Analog Sparks International Film Photography Awards. She is also a finalist for the 2025 Head On Portrait Awards and the 2025 Klompching FRESH Photo Award, and was named a Top 200 finalist in the 2025 Photolucida Critical Mass.
